My Favorite Marketing Campaigns This Week
Skims and Kleinfeld are winners in my book
As a social media manager/marketer, I’m always looking at marketing campaigns that are making a big splash at the moment. This is both for professional and personal reasons — I obviously want to have a pulse on the happenings in the social media word to know what the competition is doing and to get ideas for my own campaigns. However, as a consumer I’m a marketers dream so I like to just see what is out there and what creative minds are coming up with.
This week it felt like a particularly few days with some campaigns that feel so smart, so relevant in pop culture and they just had me screaming with joy.
Lindsay Hubbard x Kleinfeld Again
I am a die hard HubbHouse supporter because I think Lindsay gets a bad rap for not displaying stero-typical feminine qualities when it comes to emotions. I also respect her for being authentically herself day in and day out.
That being said, Lindsay being the PR genius she is, debuted the most insanely smart partnership this week that had me throwing my phone across the room.
If you’re a Bravo watcher, you know that Lindsay was supposed to marry Carl in November 2023 but that was canceled…so she has some leftover wedding dresses that she had already paid for.
Enter KleinfeldAgain: a new initiative put forward by Kleinfeld Bridal where you can buy and sell pre-loved wedding dresses, for well under retail.
Kleinfeld Again tapped Lindsay to launch the boutique with an in-store event on Monday, June 17th. She sold three dresses she had for her wedding to Kleinfeld and will donate the proceeds (which Kleinfeld will match) to ChicksMission, an organization that helps women going through cancer treatments freeze their eggs.
Lindsay froze her eggs a few years ago and has been very vocal about wanting to start a family, so it makes perfect sense for her to partner with a great organization, and to enlist the help of Kleinfeld Bridal to do so.
I love a creative mind, I appreciate obvious partnerships and branding because when something makes sense to the public, it appears more authentic which delivers the best results. I’m really impressed and proud of Lindsay for this partnership and I’m looking forward to seeing if it progresses past this.
Nicola Coughlan x SKIMs
You know it’s always a good marketing genius day when Skims taps someone new for a photoshoot. Their next celebrity guest never fails to be perfectly spot on, culturally relevant, and genius. Say what you want about Kim Kardashian but she has smart people working with and for her.
Nicola Coughlan has been all over the place for months now, doing press for Bridgerton Season 3. She was the leading lady and is of course, not your stero-typical lead… she’s 4’1 and isn’t a size two. When the general public saw her on screen, they saw themselves…including me. It was refreshing to see a sex scene that depicted someone who was more similar to my body type and I don’t think I realized how that would affect me until I saw it when watching season 3.
Nicola is going to be a huge star; she’s already in multiple projects but being Lady Whistledown really catapulted her to true stardom and it’s only going to rise. That’s why Skims tapping her for their latest Long Slip Dress, specifically made for hourglass curves, is genius.
The photoshoot was gorgeous and emulated the Bridgerton style with light, pastel tones with a regency paint brush effect.
She’s the IT girl of the moment and to have her in this kind of campaign is just good press for Skims.
