The weeks have gotten away from me which is why I’ve been MIA from the substack. I’ve been distracted, not present and just unsure of what I’m doing. I’ve felt like I was floating and not really grounded in my life.
I’m not reading, I’m not writing, I’m not planning or making to-do lists, I’m letting my house get messy and not eating right… I haven’t worked out in weeks. My routine is shit and I’ve needed some serious help getting back on my game.
All of that being said, I think the extra long, holiday weekend was the perfect way to get me back on track. I feel like I was able to be social, to relax, to clean and organize, to get my priorities straight and it feels very good. I hope that I can keep it going, keep it simple and straight.
Someone hold me accountable, please? Someone hold me to a routine.
In other news, I’ve been watching a lot of TV and it’s taking up all my mental energy, and all my obsessions for the week.
Ladies of London
I’ve been obsessed with England for as long as I could remember. I love the history, the architecture, the society and of course, the Royal Family. But weirdly, I’ve never watched Bravo’s Ladies of London. Thankfully, Peacock recently put it on the platform and I’ve been streaming it…and have fallen in love. It’s messy, it’s dated (2014 is the first season), it’s silly and just everything you want from a reality show. Women are fighting over not wanting to eat deer at dinner, doing yoga at parties, and celebrating the 4th of July in London. It’s perfection and it’s criminal that there are only three seasons.
Love Island USA
If you don’t follow me on Threads you probably haven’t heard but my new personality trait is being obsessed with Love Island USA. I have a rule: no dating shows unless it’s the Bachelor, because everything else just confuses me on a spirtual level so Love Island never crossed my radar. Until this season when Queen of Scorned Women, Ariana Madix was named the host, and I wanted to support my girl. I didn’t watch the first few episodes live, then caught up and was immediately struck. This is television gold. Leah? Rob? Kendall? Liv? These people are reality TV stars and I need them to never leave my screen. Things are popping off after Casa Amor and the internet streets are saying that it’s one of the best seasons of Love Island ever. I wait for 9 PM every night like I’m getting paid and I’m immediately empty when it’s over.
That 90s Show
I’m a sucker for a reboot. I can’t help it! I love nostalgia, I love immersing myself back into a world I know so well. I love inside jokes that only long time watchers would know, and seeing how plot can be linked back to the original show. When That 90s Show was announced ages ago, and released in early 2023, I ate it up. It was so cheesy but fun in the way That 70s Show was but this time, I could relate more because I am a 90s baby. (The fact that the amount of time between the premiere of That 70s Show and the 70s is the same as the new show and the 90s is scary and gross). There was virtually no advertising for the second season until I saw it on TikTok which bothered me, but I dove head first back into Point Place and loved every bit of it. Leia and the gang got into some hi-jinx just like her parents did and we’ll get season 3 in October. It’s a very easy show to quickly binge but will make you happy if you loved That 70s Show.
