How are we already halfway through July? Time is not real anymore…
It was an odd week, one that I don’t really have much memory of now that I think about it. It was a lot of work, a lot of decompressing after work and a lot of limiting my screentime so I didn’t fall into a dark hole of Threading about Love Island and getting annoyed with how mean people were being.
My energy was so low this week but I had a pep in my step on Saturday after spending the day with friends and family at my cousin’s bridal shower. It was so much fun, so beautiful and grounded me, hopefully setting me up for success throughout the rest of the week.
Today, I am tired, the weather is not great and I will be counting down the seconds until I can watch (and be done with) Love Island USA tonight.
Now, let’s get into the report…
READING
I am all in on Maine Characters by Hannah Orenstein. I loved all of her other books so I knew I’d like this one too, even though it is very different from what she usually writes. It is very Parent Trap-esqe which I love and you can feel the setting and personalities jump off the page. I think this might be her best one yet!
EATING
This week was a lot of pizza and burgers this week, but also a delicious red velvet cake alongside a tiramisu that was to die for… I need to be better about taking pictures of my food.
PLAYING
The streaming services have been turning out Idaho 4 docu-series with record speed so I’ve been obsessively watching them all. Both Peacock and Amazon Prime released pre-plea deal series detailing the heinous crimes of Bryan Kohberger. Both series were done really well with input from family and friends of the victims, new details revealed and honestly really showcased how horrible the ‘true crime’ community can be in times of great despair and tragedy.
*Both posters use the outline of the state of Idaho in their marketing material but in different ways — Peacock has the focus on Bryan Kohberger and Prime on the victims (Prime’s show has the interviews with more of the friends and family which makes sense that the poster is laid out this way)
OBSESSING
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale has me in shambles this week! It is so good — better than it’s been in years. I haven’t been this excited about a purchase in months and while it’s 100 degrees outside, I am daydreaming of the day that I can wear this ruffle collared jacket come October.
RECOMMENDING
I might be a little biased since I work for Estée Lauder but I am addicted to our Pure Color Melt-On Glossticks. I wore Melted Melon to the bridal shower yesterday and it is the juiciest, shiniest lipstick-gloss I’ve ever used. It’s insanely easy to apply, isn’t sticky at all and lasts a decently long time.
TREATING
This might sound lame but I treated myself to a true rest day on Friday. I worked at my desk steadfastly through lunchtime and then moved to the couch where I worked, lounged and just moved at a slower pace. Once 5 PM came, I closed my laptop and proceeded to be horizontal for the rest of the night. I didn’t get down on myself about spending the night on the couch or policing my screentime, it was just a gloriously indulgent, restful night that I desperately needed.
Have a fabulous week, everyone!
