WEEKLY REPORT #51
shopping & pastries.
What a week*.
*(she says for the 100th time this year)
I had more than one crash out, re-organized my entire house and daydreamed about leaving my life behind and moving to London. It’s just your typical week, I suppose.
It’s also the last week in The Tortured Poet’s Department era before we all become Showgirls and the excitement might kill me. Tickets are purchased for the movie event on Friday night and I’m ready to paint my nails orange and usher in the new Era.
I’m planning on publishing my current rankings of Taylor Swift’s albums next week, before The Life of a Showgirl so keep an eye out for that.
Let’s get into the report…
READING
I was struggling trying to find the perfect book to lose myself in and after a few failed attempts, I settled on Such a Clever Girl by Darby Kane. It doesn’t come out until January 2026 but I have an ARC from NetGalley, and boy…it’s a good one.
I’m more than halfway through and I just want to spend every moment gobbling it up and finding out what the hell happened to the Tanner Family. This is definitely going to be the thriller of the year for 2026!
EATING
On Tuesday I played hooky from work and went to the Americana Mall in Manhasset with my sister. The only thing I ate for the majority of the day were pastries — a croissant from Ralph’s Coffee and a scone & cookie from YoungsFarm. All were equally delicious.
PLAYING
The Jonas Brothers’ new album and tour have really re-ignited my love for them. I’ve found myself listening to the older albums more than I have in the past 10 years and something inside me is healing. For the first time in forever, I listened to It’s About Time, the Brothers’ first album and I nearly cried. Hearing their young voices, having the lyrics come back to me as if I listened to the songs yesterday, it made me emotional. I also couldn’t stop smiling and it put me in the greatest mood.
Listening to the songs you loved when you were a teenager is an excellent way to seek joy.
OBSESSING
I got the idea in my head last week that I wanted to use a backpack for work instead of my totes. My chiropractor has been saying for years that I need to stop putting so much weight on my right shoulder and over the past two weeks, she was proven right. I can barely lift my Simple Modern tumbler or a book without my arm & shoulder hurting.
The thing about me is that I can’t just use a regular backpack. It had to be chic and not look like a backpack. I knew just the bag I needed to add back into my collection but the problem was…the brand doesn’t exist anymore.
Henri Bendel made the best backpacks and I had one once upon a time, until it got stolen out of my car in the grocery store parking lot. I searched high and low on Poshmark, Mercari and eBay over the past week and finally bought one in excellent condition, under $120. I can’t wait to go to work next week to use it!
RECOMMENDING
If like me, you enjoy a regular manicure instead of gel or powder, or whatever they’re doing in nail salons these days, might I suggest the Essie shade Angora Cardi? It is the best fall shade and I’ve been wearing it for 10+ years. It’s the quintessential fall shade, a dusty rose with 90s brown undertones.
I painted my nails with it last week to usher in the fall season, and then bought a new bottle on Ulta.
TREATING
Aside from a random day off and too many pastries, I treated myself to a Sephora IRL haul as well as a Victoria Beckham lipstick from Blue Mercury. Then, as soon as I left Sephora, I placed an order online because they didn’t have what I really wanted and that was the Summer Fridays holiday set with NEW Lip Butter Balm in Toasted Marshmallow.
Everything I bought is linked here.
