Weekly REPORT #55
Time is not real. How was this week 400 years long but also only lasted 40 seconds? I was more confused than not this week, constantly in a state of flux, questioning what day it was. I’m unsure why that was happening to me but I’m glad that it’s behind me. Hopefully this week is better in terms of time tracking.
For the first time in a few weeks, I had zero plans for the weekend and it was much needed. I moved at my own leisurely pace, did an intense workout, ran errands, did early voting for the NYC Mayoral Race and relaxed.
Let’s get into the REPORT…
READING
I was still in a spooky season mood but didn’t want something too thrilling, so I finally decided to crack open a book I’ve had on my Nook for years — A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow. It was a strange and interesting reimagining of Sleeping Beauty where a young girl with a terminal medical condition ends up falling into a Sleeping Beauty universe and needs to rescue herself and the princess whose world she fell into.
It was a very quick read and very interesting, with a mildly happy ending. Now, I’m feeling stuck and not sure what to read next…
EATING
As I’m writing this, I just finished eating an entire box of breadsticks that I bought literally two hours ago while grocery shopping. I also bought 7Up Zero Sugar Shirley Temple which doesn’t have any caffeine but has seemingly given me a massive anxiety attack, which is why I was eating the breadsticks as if I was drunk and they were trying to sober me up.
PLAYING
In honor of both Midnights & Red’s anniversaries this week, I listened to the albums from start to finish and was reminded how incredible they both are. Because of All Too Well, Red is one of my favorite albums but I forgot just how lovely it is to listen to from start to finish. I’ve been enjoying listening to all albums in order vs shuffle lately because I really do feel as if they tell a more cohesive story that way.
OBSESSING
I am very into my new morning routine that I implemented this week (we’ll see if it lasts!) The minute my Hatch alarm goes off, I turn my lamp on and then put on a Headspace meditation. After the meditation, I open my Louis Vuitton MM Agenda where I have Cloth & Paper Mindfulness inserts (they don’t make the exact ones I have anymore but you can find different ones here) and do a little journaling and free writing.
Then, I check in with my Five Minute Journal app and get out of bed & ready for the day. I used to just grab my phone and scroll until it was time to truly wake up but now, all social media apps are locked until 7 AM (when I’m going to the office) so I cannot scroll. I use the app BePresent which has been a game changer over the past few months for reducing screen time and implementing better phone habits, and this feature of scheduling ‘down time’ really helps.
I feel a lot more refreshed in the morning and it gives me an excuse to be excited to get on the bus since that’s now my designated scroll time.
It’s not realistic for me to not grab my phone when I wake up because if I don’t, I will just fall back to sleep.
RECOMMENDING
My latest Fall lip combo is all that’s on my mind lately. I’ve been loving using the rhode Peptide Lip Shape in lunge to line & fill in my lips and then topping it with the Estée Lauder Glossy Pout Lip Oil in Maple Syrup. This is hands down one of my favorite lip oils of the moment because it’s not too slippery, not sticky and lasts a decent amount of time while not drying my lips out.
The combination of the two give a gorgeous, neutral look to your lips and I highly recommend creating your own combo with these two products.
TREATING
Hotel Lobby Candle released their holiday collection this week and the campaign was unbelievably good. I’ve been on a candle no-buy this year and aside from purchasing the Hotel Lobby ‘London’ candle, I’ve been successful. It’s not surprising that I’d break that no buy for another HCL candle, this time I chose ‘Holiday in New York’, a new scent from them which sounds delightful with notes of fig, cedar leaf, and clove. They also have a classic holiday scent aptly named ‘Holiday’ which I have from last year, with notes of pine, fir, and snow.
Have a good week!
xo.
