Weekly REPORT #77
If you’re a reality TV and Bravo fan, congratulations — you made it through the first week of West Side Story/Scamanda. We have a long way to go and I’m sure there will be more revealed but for now, we have what we have.
If you’re a new reader of Gilty Pleasures, welcome! I had a bump in subscribers and viewers thanks to my coverage of the scandal, so I hope you’ll stick around. We talk a lot about reality TV, pop culture, and a lot of stuff in between.
Every week I do a Weekly REPORT - Reading, Eating, Playing, Obsessing, Recommending and Treating — to give you a peek inside my life and just have some fun.
READING
I’m almost done with First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston and I’m obsessed! It’s different from other thrillers I’ve read — it’s more of a mystery and I’m so into it. Secret identities, murders, lies and more, what is there not to like?
EATING
Happy Easter! My favorite part of this holiday is Pizza Rustica aka Pizza di Pasqua aka meat pie. I wait all year for it and it always tastes delicious so I was very happy to indulge all day long.
PLAYING
We’re coming up on two years of The Tortured Poet’s Department in a few weeks and truly, this album does not get old. I listen to it the full way through at least once a week and I’ve determined that it’s my favorite album of all time. It is Taylor’s Magnum Opus — there will never be another album like this. It is perfect from 1-31.
OBSESSING
I cannot get enough of West Side Story — mostly for the social media posts floating around the fandom. People are so witty, I have not stopped laughing. My favorite of course has been Kyle’s on the street interview where he says “Carl’s a mess.”
Every time I see the clip, I howl with laughter. It made it’s rounds quickly around the internet, leading to Loverboy merch and an Uber Eats ad with Carl and Lindsay which broke my brain on Saturday night.
People, Brands and Things got the exclusive interview with the Uber Eats team on how they put together this ad so quickly and as a social media professional, I am fascinated by it.
RECOMMENDING
I recently bought the Olive & June cuticle buffer and I am obsessed. I used it for the first time on Saturday night and it has transformed my at home manicure. It’s exactly what it says it is — a buffer for your cuticles. As you are buffing, you will of course get your nails as well but think of this tool as a buffer & cuticle remover all in one. It gets rid of all the cuticles and dead, dry skin surrounding your nails so you have a very smooth and healthy nail bed.
It’s supposed to mimic the look of a Russian manicure and I have to say, my nails have never looked better. I noticed the difference right away and I’ll never do a manicure without this ever again.
TREATING
I don’t think I bought anything this week that you could consider a treat so we’ll skip this category for now.
