It is very poetic that I am writing this 87th REPORT the weekend following Taylor and Travis’ wedding, especially since I have skipped two posts in the month of June*. It’s almost like this was meant to be.
*There was no report last week because I had my best friend’s wedding on Saturday and by the time I got home on Sunday morning, I was too tired to do anything other than lay on my couch.
I’m not going to talk too much about the wedding of the century right now as I have an entire post dedicated to it scheduled for tomorrow.
What I will talk about is how ridiculously hot it was in New York this week; it was so hot that my power went out twice and once it was on, I had to sleep on my couch near the AC because my bedroom was too hot.
After the insane snowstorms we experienced this winter I was looking forward to the warm weather but I take it back — this is too much.
Let’s get into the report…
READING
I finished reading Yesteryear last week and oh my God, it was incredible. I haven’t read a ‘hot topic’ book like this in a while — I never seem to read what everyone else in the world is reading at any given moment so to be on the bandwagon with the general public was nice.
It was an incredible book and I’m going to do a reading wrap up this week so stay tuned for more thoughts but if you like influencer culture, I highly recommend it.
I’m now switching back and forth between The Page Turner by Viola Shipman and The Crying Killer by Jess Lourey. I needed a palette cleanser after Yesteryear and couldn’t decide if I wanted romance or a thriller, so I chose both.
The Crying Killer comes out in August but I have an ARC from Netgalley so I’m thrilled to be able to read it prior to release. It’s unreal so far!
EATING
It was the 4th of July this weekend, what do you think I ate?
Hot dogs, of course.
PLAYING
Of course Taylor Swift has been on repeat this week in celebration of her nuptials but I also cannot stop listening to stupid song by Olivia Rodgrio. There are drugs in that song, it’s insane.
On the television side of things, Love Island USA heated up this week after the casa recoupling & movie night, and now we only have one more week in Fiji.
OBSESSING
I have been in an insane shopping mood the past few weeks. I haven’t given into the cravings at all, but I can feel myself hanging on by a thread. For the first time in a while, I made a wishlist of all the stuff I have my eyes on and you can see it here.
RECOMMENDING
My sister bought me a pair of Hillhouse pajamas to wear the morning of her wedding and I was not allowed to wear them beforehand. Hence, I’ve been wearing them nonstop since June 13th and they are the most comfortable pajamas I’ve ever worn. They are light & flowy, but you don’t feel exposed and they’re just adorable.
While they are expensive, they would make a great gift (to receive) or try to find them on sale. (They are actually on sale right now!)
Also, if you’re not using a Slip Silk eye mask, what are you doing? There is no reason for you to be sleeping without one! I recently got the lash contour mask (I don’t have false lashes but wanted to see if the extra material would help me sleep better — jury is still out) and I’m obsessed. I’ve been wearing Slip eye masks for years and I never sleep without one.
TREATING
I am addicted to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream bars. I have to stop myself from buying a box every week because I will eat them all in two days.
