2023 was an explosive Bravo year and one moment comes to mind; can you guess what it was? (hint: cheating scandal). Then, I would say that Kyle and Mauricio’s breakup was a runner up in shockers, followed by Shannon’s DUI.
I didn’t really know how Bravo would level it up this year; how do you move on after the biggest storyline in Bravo history? How do you make this year bigger?
Well, we did & in more ways than one.
2024 saw Bravo enter more of the mainstream lexicon, as if it were even possible but there were huge moments that we will forever remember and look back on with fondness.
Receipts, Proof, Timeline, Screenshots
Can you believe this was THIS YEAR? We started the year off with a bang, literally, when we watched with dropped jaws, our four favorite Utah gals on a Bermuda beach. The season finale of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 premiered on January 2nd, 2024 and it was one of the best episodes of television we’ve ever received.
The reveal that one season wonder, Monica Garcia, was actually the person behind a troll social media account that has been harassing the women for years, was truly insane. It sent shockwaves throughout the Bravosphere and aside from a small leak 24 hours before the episode aired, we had no idea that this was coming. We surely didn’t know it was going to play out like this.
We had no idea we would get one of the best catch phrases of all time and we had no clue that the episode would be edited in a way that was so cinematic, we will never see it on reality TV ever again.
Similar to Scandoval, ‘Receipts, Proof, Timeline, Screenshots’ has made it’s way into mainstream media & pop culture knowledge…with it being tweeted out by the White House and used on the floor of Congress. We were not prepared for what that episode gave us, and it pretty much cemented Real Housewives of Salt Lake City as the number one franchise.
The Success of The Valley
I think we were all shocked when we got news that Jax Taylor & Kristen Doute would be back on our screens in 2024 and I don’t think anyone was really excited about it. We all brushed it off as a money grab in a post Scandoval world (how many times can I reference Scandoval in one post?) but we were soon proven wrong. The moment I saw Jax Taylor walk from his Vanderpump Rules confessional set to The Valley, I was sold. I felt like I was in a WWE match — I was ready!
The best part of this whole thing is that Jax and Kristen weren’t even the best part of The Valley! We got new villains — Jessie and Janet come to mind. We got hallway fights, the implosion of Jax & Brittany’s marriage, and an extra divorce (Jessie & Michelle) on top of it.
It was perfect television and so much has happened since the first season ended that you just know the 2nd season is going to be insane.
Activated Dorit
This is recency bias but I don’t care; the moment I saw Dorit flying down the highway with a lit cigarette in her mouth, I knew I had to include it on the list. Dorit Kemsley has been on the back burner for a while. With every seasons end, Bravo fans wondered if Dorit would get the axe and it seemed like it almost happened before Season 14 until it was announced that Dorit & PK were separating. She had saved her diamond, but would she hold onto it?
The answer after the premiere episode was a resounding yes. Dorit is bringing it this season; Dorit, so far, has carried the season on her back. She is wiping the floor with the ladies every chance she gets and isn’t letting them come up for air.
Dorit is standing up for herself, she’s going after the OG and she’s leaving no prisoners behind. This is happening while she’s being very vulnerable and honest (mostly about her divorce, less so about her money troubles which we know are happening behind the scenes) and I appreciate that. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.
Salt Lake City Season 5 feat. Mary Cosby
We’re ending the year the same way we started…with a killer Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season. We ended season 4 not knowing how this show would get better but the minute the women showed up at Lisa Barlow’s Besos Party, we knew we struck gold.
Between high body count hair, bread in purses, bath bombs, Jared Osmond and Puerto Vallarta villas, we’ve been eating well all season long. New housewife Bronwyn has turned out to be one of the best casting decisions in years, and friend-of Brittani, while annoying, is excellent television.
If the season wasn’t great enough because of the two of them, Mary Cosby showed up to work. Last season she was a friend of and delivered some comedy, and then this year, with a snowflake back in hand, is a new person.
Mary has showed incredible vulnerability in dealing with Robert Jr’s drug addiction; she is showing us a different side of her and we are getting to know her on a deeper level. She is an excellent mother who loves her son so deeply and that is on full display. Her friendship with Angie is beautiful to watch and I’m truly taken by how much Mary trusts her. How did we go from ‘Who’s Angie?’ to Mary running to find her in Puerto Vallarta? It’s amazing.
Mary is interacting with the cast, participating in group activities and even hosting events. She is funny, engaged and delivering so much goodness. I am constantly laughing out loud at my television and I just never thought that Mary Cosby would be my favorite part of RHOSLC.
2024 was a less explosive than 2023 but it was still incredibly entertaining and delivered some moments that immediately became classics.
Cheers to finding out what 2025 on Bravo brings us!
What else would you have included on this list?
